From fast screening to full diagnostic
The easy-to-use SmartOAE is powerful enough for the most demanding applications. It can be set up quickly to perform a simple screening, or a full detailed diagnostic. SmartOAE features include:
- Automatic probe fit check.
- In-ear calibration.
- Easy to interpret DP-Grams.
- Recordings clearly marked as Pass or Refer.
- Normative data.
Research Options
SmartOAE includes many features for research purposes:
- High Frequency up to 16kHz for human subjects.
- High Frequency up to 32kHz for animal subjects.
- Input/Output function (DP-IO).
- DPOAE Scripting.
Research options may have restrictions for use on human subjects based on your location. Please contact us for additional details.

SmartOAE Application Notes
Acquiring Distortion Product OAE with SmartOAE
This application note reviews the basic principles of acquiring distortion product otoacoustic emissions. It also contains the standard recommended settings for acquiring DPOAE recordings using SmartOAE.
DPOAE Testing with 10B+ and HF Transducers
SmartDPOAE systems with the high frequency
option installed need
some extra considerations when performing
testing at high frequencies. High Frequency testing has
shown to be useful when considering an
average of several tests on a single animal or
when comparing populations of two different
animal groups, such as when researching
ototoxicity effects of drugs and genetic defect
effects.
Exporting Data from SmartOAE
Click stimulation only gives you a general representation of neural synchrony. To get more frequency specific information it is necessary to use tone burst stimulation. This note is an add-on to the Click ABR application note.

High Frequency Transducer calibration in animal ears
The cavity size of animal ears vary greatly. In order to achieve accurate recordings when doing animal research, the calibration needs to be adjusted to reflect the size of the cavity for the particular species.
